This exceptional large copper fish poacher is a true statement piece, both sculptural and historical. Entirely hand-crafted in France by a local artisan at the late 18th to early 19th century, it showcases remarkable repoussé work and a scale that is rare.
The copper body is richly decorated on both sides. One side features an elaborate heraldic composition with two repoussé dragons facing a central shield topped with a crown, framed by textured punch work. The opposite side displays a rhythmic alignment of fleur-de-lis motifs, deeply embossed and evenly spaced.
Its proportions make it the largest example of this type I have personally handled. Originally designed for poaching fish (possibly river fish or ceremonial servings) it now lends itself beautifully to decorative use. It can be repurposed as a dramatic planter, a centerpiece on a console or table, or simply displayed as a museum-worthy collectible.
A rare and powerful piece of French copperwork, chosen for its craftsmanship, age, and undeniable presence.
Overall length with handle: approx. 24.8 in (63 cm)
Overall width: approx. 6.7 in (17 cm)
Interior length: approx. 21.7 in (55 cm)
Interior width: approx. 5.3 in (13.5 cm)
Height (without handle): approx. 5.5 in (14 cm)
Weight: approx. 9.26 lbs (4.2 kg)
Very good antique condition for its age.
The piece may show small dents, light hammer marks, and irregularities inherent to hand-crafted copper. The surface presents a beautiful aged patina with a few spots and tonal variations, all consistent with centuries of use and craftsmanship.

Buyers are responsible for any customs duties or import taxes that may apply, depending on their country’s regulations. These fees are not included in the purchase or shipping price and must be paid directly to the carrier or customs office when the parcel arrives in your country.
If your parcel is returned to me for any reason (for example: the delivery address was incorrect, customs duties were not paid, or the parcel was not collected in time) I won’t be able to offer a refund.
However, you will have the option to have your parcel resent. In that case, you’ll need to cover the cost of reshipping, which may be significant depending on your location (especially outside of Europe).
Please double-check your address and be sure to track your order once it’s shipped. If you’re outside the EU, make sure you’re familiar with your local customs procedures to avoid issues.
I’ll always do my best to help if something goes wrong so feel free to reach out if you have any concerns.
