DESCRIPTION: Stunning antique chocolate pot in copper with a wooden handle. The pot shows a beautiful decor of friezes, grapes and shields. It is placed on 3 lovely arched feet. Chocolate pots had a hole in the middle of their lids to insert the wooden stirring stick that was used to help melt the solids and foam the chocolate to give it all its aroma. This one also has a slide-away cap cover to hide the hole when not used. We can see on the front the writings “Brugge Anno MDDCL” that refers to Bruges in Belgium in 1750. The two shield symbols are the heraldic crest of West Flanders, which is the province of Belgium where Bruges is located. It is hard to say if this is the date of manufacture of the chocolate pot or if it is a commemorative piece of an event of 1750. In any case, it is a gorgeous copper piece full of stories and soul. A decorative addition to display in your country kitchen and a rare collectible item! ♥ CONDITIONS: very good for its age, the pot is slightly dented particularly on the lid (refer to photos) ♥ DIMENSIONS: 8.5 x 12.5 x 4″ (Height x Length x Diameter) ♥ WEIGHT: approx. 1.4 lbs | 0.63 kg
